I love collecting old vintage suitcases. My collection is growing and I figured I need to display a few of them. So I had an old end table dresser that I was about to throw out because I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Then "POOF!" Why not use the suitcases as drawers for the dresser. Well, as great as that idea was, it wasn't really great because I didn't have suitcases that perfectly in the slots. Because of my stubbornness, I was determined to combine the suitcase with this dresser.
The dresser was turquoise and decided to make it two-tone. But I wanted to add some POP, so I went Barnyard Red on the inside.
For the shelves, I wanted to add some rustic charm, per se, so I went with old platelets planks. I love the old hard look of wood. It adds so much character, in my opinion to anything you're working with.
And this is the finished product. It turned out pretty good. Needless to say, I was satisfied with it. Overall, I did want to use one of the drawers to give it another dimension. But I wanted to make it appear vintage, old and music. I painted it all red and didn't really like it. So I sand it down but leaving a little residue of red. I painted with strips for the first time, and also bruised it to give a worn down look. Also, I wanted to play with a little hodgepodge but failed miserably. The part of the Sailor Girl was really difficult to come over, so I decided to leave it on there.
